New life vol. 2. Chapter 1

I was thinking for some time, whether to start writing about my new little bit crazy adventure or not, but as there was demand and I felt the need to write... so here we go again. This time from the capital of Austria: Vienna.

I will go back with the introduction another time as I want to make it short this time and share with you again my passion for cooking.

I have arrived to Wien at good time as it's just before the big holidays and of course food plays a big role in festive activities.
Here, people bake different cookies: Weinachtskekse or Christmas cookies. I got the first try of those heavenly home made treats a week ago at my friends' and instantly felt the urge to get my hands floury-buttery.

I decided to make first the nr 1 preferred cookies for the Austrians (based on this year's poll) Vanillakipferl: vanilla-flavoured crisby croissant-or I would say Moon-shaped cookies.

As usual, I made a little round in the Net, to get the idea and recipe, but a couple of days ago, I was at the shop, I could not resist to try the ready-made dough. I'm always a little suspicious about it, but I just wanted to give it a try.

So tonight I finally baked my first Vanillakipferls. As I remembered from my friends' comments, that the dough is quite difficult to handle as it tends to brake. I managed to form them quite easily, but the dough has to be cool for that.

Only 8-10min in the oven at 180 degrees, cool a little bit and then it's time to dust them with vanilla-powdered sugar mix. Takes a bit time and careful with not to brake them. Then let cool and voilĂ !

Taste was okay, and I was almost happy with the shapes, but it missed this home-made-touch -taste. Maybe it's the butter...
So I will be back soon, with the recipe and more stories about my life in Vienna.

Wish you all a nice Christmas-waiting time :)
